Hotel Le Germain Quebec

The Hotel Le Germain-Dominion is housed in a building that's over a century old and includes original woodwork and stone throughout. The exterior is grand and has loads of character, while the interior is contemporary with a quiet yet friendly atmosphere. Relaxed music plays in the lobby, which has gray carpet that ties in nicely with neutral couches and armchairs. Long wood tables have wicker chairs and there are large windows for natural light. Hanging light fixtures made up of clipped paper illustrations and notes adorn some common areas, while others have more sculptural fixtures, and there is a cozy seating area with couches and a dark wood fireplace as well. Historic/contemporary juxtapositions abound in small details, too, like the lucite ghost chairs set next to exposed brick in the hotel's hallways, and the hotel has a lovely outdoor patio. Kids are welcome here, but not catered to, and the majority of guests are Canadian and international couples on vacation.

The Hotel Le Germain-Dominion is in the beautiful Old Port area in the heart of Quebec City. The Old Quebec Funicular, Place Royale, Museum of Civilization, and Quebec Cruise Terminal are a five-minute walk away. A bit further, about a 10-minute walk, are the Quebec Experience, Seminary of Quebec, restaurants, and shops. Both the Citadelle of Quebec and the Quebec City Convention Center are a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport is a 25-minute drive.

Modern, spacious rooms have several windows, which make the space bright, and all are air-conditioned. Architecturally-inspired artwork lines the walls while decorative red pillows rest on beds laid with down comforters. Gray armchairs provide seating and flat-screen TVs are mounted on the walls and Bose alarm clocks sit on nightstands. Nespresso coffeemakers sit on top of dark wood furniture with minibars hidden inside and bathrobes are hung in wood closets. Some rooms have magnificent river or city views in addition to exposed brick and gray carpet. Contemporary bathrooms have green glass countertops and sinks matched to gray or white tile. Makeup mirrors and high-end Molton Brown toiletries are offered. Some bathrooms have separate soaking tubs and tile walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, while other bathrooms only have showers.

Croissants, cakes, cheeses, pastries, yogurt, and fruit are offered at the free continental breakfast. Though there isn't a full restaurant, room service is available with limited hours and free coffee, tea, and newspapers are also on hand in the lobby during the day. Modern cardio and weight machines are provided in the industrial-style fitness center. There's a 24-hour business center in the lobby with a computer and printer; Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. This hotel is pet-friendly and guests receive pet beds, food and water bowls, treats, leashes, and doggie welcome gifts. However, there is a fee for pets, only one dog per room is allowed, and pets cannot be left alone in the rooms. Expect to pay extra for daily outdoor and valet parking.
