Me-Moons Are the New Self-Love Travel Trend
We’ve all heard of honeymoons and babymoons, but the hottest new trend taking the travel industry by storm is “me-moons,” trips you take by yourself that focus on self-care, empowerment, and personal enjoyment. Many hotels are capitalizing on the trend, offering special pampering packages designed for solo travelers looking to treat themselves.

Tips for Planning a Me-Moon

A me-moon is a trip you take by yourself, without your partner or a friend, usually to better yourself in some way: culturally, mindfully, or physically. The rise of solo-travel has brought this trend to the forefront, combined with the notion that taking time for yourself to reset and recharge is beneficial. While a honeymoon traditionally is for couple bonding, the me-moon is for individualism. Time to find yourself, reset yourself, or remember who you are.
The short answer is whenever you want. However, some milestones may make a me-moon more prevalent. Before you get married, after a divorce, a milestone birthday, a promotion, a layoff, a child going off to college, after beating an illness, or simply when you feel like you’ve lost a little bit of yourself—any circumstance that makes you feel like you need time for yourself. Me-moons focus on personal growth, renewal, and reminding yourself of who you are.

Decide what you want to get out of your me-moon. If it’s an adventure, be sure to find a resort that offers adventurous activities like SCUBA diving, hiking, or more exhilarating activities. If it’s about connecting with your inner self, make sure the resort you choose has plenty of options for delving into your psyche—and if it’s just relaxation you want, be sure to choose a quiet, adults-only resort. While a me-moon can be about solitude, it doesn’t have to be, so be sure to include group activities with others at your resort if you don't want to feel completely alone. Since you’ll be traveling solo, choose a safe destination you’ll feel comfortable being alone in.
